Manchester United are set to do battle with Monaco and Arsenal for the signature of Porto striker Jackson Martinez. The Colombian forward has been in impressive form this season scoring 19 times for Porto which has led to speculation about a move abroad. Monaco were looking at the 27-year-old as one of the options to replace compatriot Radamel Falcao who is wanted by Chelsea. However, the Ligue One club will have a job persuading Martinez to move to France as he prefers a move to the English, Italian, Spanish or German leagues, according to comments quoted by Le 10 Sport. United and Arsenal are both keen on taking the forward in the summer, but will have to stump up 34 million to activate the release clause in the Colombian’s contract at Porto. Martinez has a contract at Porto until June 2016, but is debating whether to leave this summer. Martinez said: “Maybe I will have that chance. It would be beautiful one day be another big club like Porto, which is a great team in which I am happy.”Read more Arsenal transfer news.
