Manchester City could look to sign Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain as a replacement for Sergio Aguero, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Argentine only just signed for Napoli last summer, after months of speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal from his previous club Real Madrid, though he has now emerged as a target for the Gunners again. Still, City face the possible departure of star player Aguero, who continues to be linked with La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, and who is reportedly considering returning to Spain, where he previously starred for Atletico Madrid.
Higuain has been in fine form this season, proving a good signing for Rafael Benitez’s side with 19 goals and 11 assists in all competitions so far, and could be another fine addition upfront for City.

Napoli will be extremely reluctant to sell their best player so quickly, but a European football insider believes City would be willing to pay big money to force their hand, particularly as they would be likely to receive a high fee from the sale of Aguero. (Manuel) Pellegrini likes Higuain, a source said. “Aguero could leave and Higuain would be an ideal replacement, and he could be affordable. I think City will push hard for this deal.
