Liverpool could compete with Chelsea for the signing of Porto left-back Alex Sandro, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Blues have recently been linked with the Brazilian as they look to be in the market for a new defender on that side in the upcoming summer transfer window, with doubts over Ashley Cole’s future at Stamford Bridge.
The veteran full-back has been out of favour with Jose Mourinho this season, which has seen Cesar Azpilicueta play out of position on the left-hand side, and although he has performed well, Sandro is believed to be in line to become the club’s first choice there next season.
However, Chelsea will now face competition from Liverpool for his signature, as Brendan Rodgers’ side also look to plug that gap in their team in the summer, with loan signing Aly Cissokho looking unlikely to have earned himself a permanent move to Anfield from Valencia. Sandro could move this summer and he has had offers from Chelsea and Liverpool, a source close to the player revealed. “He is a top player and ready for the Premier League, so we’ll see what happens. “Porto could also face the exit of some big names such as Jackson Martinez and Eliaquim Mangala this summer, in what could be a difficult transfer window for the Portuguese giants.
