Liverpool could be set to launch a bid to sign AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli, according to reports in Italy.
Balotelli is likely to leave AC Milan this summer after a difficult 18 months at the Rossoneri, despite his good form.
The former Manchester City and Inter striker has been the subject of intense criticism due to his temperament, which has seen Balotelli cautioned on 10 occasions, and sent off once, in the Serie A this season. Balotelli is understood to want a move away from Milan, with the club also keen to rid themselves of the Italy international, according to Corriere dello Sport, who also claim that Liverpool have joined the race to sign the 23-year-old. Arsenal have been linked with a move Balotelli, with suggestions that the striker’s agent, Mino Raiola, has met with the Gunners, while French side Monaco are also believed to be keeping tabs on the forward’s situation. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers wants to add depth to his squad in order to contend with the demands of playing in the Champions League and is known to want to add to his attacking options, with Iago Aspas expected to depart and Fabio Borini’s future uncertain.
