Pepe Reina has denied talk he has turned down a permanent move to Napoli after being unhappy that his wages will be halved. The goalkeeper’s agent said there was no truth in the rumours that he had refused a four-year contract with the Serie A side.“In any case, we haven’t started negotiations for Reina’s future with the Azzurri yet, at least not for the moment,” Manuel Garcia Quilon told Tuttonapoli. Reina’s current Liverpool deal, which runs up until 2016, is worth just over 70,000-a-week with bonuses on top while it is understood that Napoli’s offer would see the 31-year-old earn just under 40,000-a-week. On top of the reduced terms, it is also reported that Reina preferrs a two-year contract. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has already outlined his intention to sign Reina on a permanent deal, while Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has previously said that he believes the goalkeeper’s Liverpool career is over.
