Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers feels his side deserved their 9th win in a row as they overcame West Ham United.
Two penalties from Steven Gerrard gave the Reds a 2-1 win at the Boleyn Ground, extending their impressive winning run and taking them back to the top of the Premier League.
There was some controversy in the game as questions were raised over Liverpool’s second penalty, but Rodgers thought his side played well and also praised the fans for their support. We were clearly the better team, the Northern Irishman told Sky Sports after the match. “I thought we thoroughly deserved the win. We showed great character. It’s a brilliant win for us and it keeps our run going. Nine games on the spin is an incredible effort by the players. Today was a tough game. Liverpool are now being built up as title favourites, and could take a massive stride towards their first league triumph in 24 years if they beat Manchester City next week, though Rodgers insists he is just looking forward to what should be a good game of football. It’s going to be a great game, he added. “It’s going to be a magnificent atmosphere. The supporters urged us on today and deserve massive credit”
