Brendan Rodgers is keen on signing 20-year old Argentine starlet Juan Iturbe from FC Porto as he looks to build on his squad this summer.
The youngster is currently on loan at Hellas Verona in Italy and has caught the eye of various Premier League sides but Liverpool are believed to be leading the chase. Sky Italia recently reported that Liverpool have established contacts with representatives of the Portuguese club and are preparing a bid in the region of ˆ16million (13. 3m). It has been claimed that Verona do not want to lose the services of Iturbe and are looking to make the move permanent. The Italians have already communicated with FC Porto stating that they want to exercise their first-option included in the initial loan deal to pay ˆ15million for the player.
However, with the player aware of strong interest from Liverpool and several other top clubs, it is likely that he will pass up the offer from Verona and leave once he has returned from his loan spell. Iturbe has played 23 times for Verona in Serie A this campaign, scoring five goals and making two assists.
