Liverpool will only accept Barcelona’s proposal to offer them Cristian Tello on loan in return for Daniel Agger if they make the deal permanent, [football] direct news understands. Barcelona are ready to make a summer move for the Reds centre-back this summer to strengthen their weak defence and believe they can tempt Liverpool with Tello, who has struggled to force his way past Neymar, Pedro Rodriguez and Alexis Sanchez for a starting place. Barca want to keep their options open with the 22-year-old by saying he goes out on loan but Anfield boss Brendant Rodgers is against such a move and is likely to insist the Catalans make Tello’s move permanent. Rodgers wants to add more quality to his squad with the club set to compete in next season’s Champions League but is loathe to lose a core of players he trusts, including Agger.
