Liverpool and Manchester United could be leading the chase for Wolfsburg youngster Maximilian Arnold, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has previously been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund after a terrific breakthrough season in the Bundesliga this year, in which he has scored seven goals and contributed two assists. Arnold’s style of play has seen him compared with Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, and he now looks set to spark a bidding war this summer as Liverpool and United join the running for his signature. Liverpool are keen to continue to bring in skillful young players to play alongside the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling in the attacking midfield area, with some doubt over the futures of Oussama Assaidi and loan signing Victor Moses. United, meanwhile, are also in some need of new creative players, with wide-men such as Nani, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia failing to impress David Moyes in this highly disappointing season at Old Trafford.

Maximilian has done very well and I’m not surprised to see big clubs after him, a source close to the player said. “He could go (to England), yes. Arsenal are interested, and Liverpool and Man United as well. “
