Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has broken ranks by declaring the Premier League title – and not simply Champions League qualification – is the Reds’ aim this term. The prolific England international took his top-flight tally to 19 after netting in his side’s thrilling 6-3 win at Cardiff City which kept alive their hopes of ending the season top of the pile. Boss Brendan Rodgers has constantly played down talk of a title tilt, insisting the Merseyside outfit only concentrate on the next fixture, but bullish Sturridge has described the run in as “eight cup finals” and revealed Liverpool have their eyes on the prize. He said on Twitter: “Buzzing to help the team win!! Striving to be second to none… 8 more cup finals. #focused #redordead.”Rodgers’ men occupy second spot in the table, four points behind leaders Chelsea but with a game in hand. Liverpool also have to face Jose Mourinho’s pace setterrs, and fellow title contenders Manchester City, at Anfield before the end of a fascinating campaign.
