Liverpool could have blown a massive opportunity to lift the Premier League title after throwing away a decisive advantage with just three games to play, according to former star Dietmar Hamann.
The Merseysiders were firmly in the driving seat going into the final straight after defeating Manchester City but a nightmare Steven Gerrard slip-up to Chelsea at Anfield contributed to a 2-0 defeat that handed the initiative back to the Etihad outfit.  Brendan Rodgers’ men then threw away a 3-0 lead at Selhurst Park to Crystal Palace to come away with just a point.  And Hamann thinks although Liverpool have made remarkable progress this season after only coming seventh last term, they have let the opportunity slip through their hands while revealing that City’s greater experience has played a pivotal role.
The experience they have is huge [after winning the Premier League]. With Liverpool they didn’t think it would affect them but perhaps they were a bit drained , he told Sky Sports.
This will be a big, big opportunity missed by Liverpool.  City have won their four games after dropping points at home to Sunderland and Liverpool in April. Liverpool now need to beat Newcastle at home and hope City lose to West Ham at the Etihad to lift the title. Although the Reds are just two points behind City they have a vastly inferior goal average that is 13 goals worse.
