Liverpool’s Spanish flop Iago Aspas is keen on a return to Celta Vigo, [football] direct news understands. The 26-year-old forward has made just five appearances for the Reds this season after his 7.2 million move last summer. His only goal came for the club in an FA Cup win against Oldham Athletic back in January and he looks set to make a swift return to Spain. An [FDN] source said that the player is keen on a return to Celta Vigo, who he joined the Reds from. Aspas came through the Celta youth programme and scored 46 goals in La Liga which attracted the attention of Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers. However, with a Champions League campaign to prepare for next season, Rodgers is keen to make some space in his squad and could be willing to let Aspas go for a reduced fee. There was a suggestion Aspas could be used in a swap deal Valencia’s Paco Alcacer. Valencia are apparently keen on Aspas which would work out well for the Reds should the player agree to a move.
