Liverpool have not given up hope of landing Inter Milan star Mateo Kovacic despite the player hinting he is going nowhere.  Kovacic joined Inter from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2013 for an 11m fee, but the Croatian has only being used sparingly this season and could be allowed to leave this summer.  Inter are set to undergo a massive overhaul in the summer in a bid to strengthen the squad as they seek a return to the Champions League – with it understood the Serie A club are still tempted to cash in on the midfielder despite their public proclamations.  Brendan Rodgers has sounded out Kovacic about a move as he prepares to build a squad capable of coping with the demands of playing in the Champions League next season but knows he faces a battle convince the player to jump ship after he declared he wants to stay and fight for his place at Inter. I’ve worked so hard in recent months and then came my chance and now I want to continue like this, he told Sky Italia. Starting next season we expect so much. Inter is amongst the most important and successful clubs and we want to do well.
The 20-year-old has three years remaining on his deal at Inter and is likely to appear at the World Cup in Brazil this summer for Croatia.
