Liverpool could make a summer move for highly-rated Porto youngster Juan Fernando Quintero, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The 21-year-old Colombian, who has been compared with Barcelona star Lionel Messi, is one of the most highly rated young players in world football at the moment, and could be set to attract further interest in the upcoming summer transfer window. Quintero only joined Porto this season, but he has impressed in the Portuguese top flight, maintaining some fine form that he showed on loan with Pescara in Serie A last season.
The likes of Manchester United and Inter Milan have been linked with the youngster in the past, but it now looks as though Liverpool will step up their interest in a bid to lure him to Anfield for next season.
The Reds are on the lookout for new attacking midfield players, with the likes of Victor Moses and Oussama Assaidi not looking like having futures at the club, and with a lack of depth beyond young players such as Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling in that part of the pitch. I have heard we’re hoping to sign Quintero from Porto, a club insider revealed. “He’s the type of young player who fits our mould perfectly at the moment, but he’s bound to have other clubs interested too. “
