Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are the latest clubs to be linked with promising Hoffenheim winger Kevin Volland, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The 21-year-old has been in superb form in the Bundesliga this season, scoring nine goals and four assists to help his side to a safe mid-table position of 9th place. A move to a bigger club now looks likely to be on the horizon for Volland, who is on the verge of a senior call-up for the German national team after proving prolific at Under-21 level.
The likes of Arsenal and Juventus are reportedly among the clubs monitoring him, and a European football insider has now revealed that Liverpool and Dortmund are likely to step up their interest in the youngster ahead of this summer’s transfer window. Both sides are likely to be in the market for new attacking players in the coming months, with Liverpool needing reinforcements on the flanks as neither Victor Moses – on loan from Chelsea – or Oussama Assaidi – on loan at Stoke City – look like being in Brendan Rodgers’ plans for next season. Dortmund also need to improve their attacking options after a disappointing season, and with star striker Robert Lewandowski set to leave the club on a free transfer to rivals Bayern Munich at the end of this campaign.
