Liverpool could look to the Bundesliga for two of their main transfer targets this summer, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Reds are likely to spend big this summer as they both enjoy the benefits of extra money to spend from their Champions League qualification, and also look to address the issues of squad depth as they endure a busier fixture list with the added commitment of European football next season. Schalke youngster Leon Goretzka, also recently linked with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, is one of his main targets, as is Borussia Monchengladbach forward Max Kruse.
The pair would add further options to two key areas of Liverpool’s squad, providing depth and quality to a variety of midfield and attacking positions due to their versatility.

Goretzka, 19, has played on both flanks and in a defensive midfield role for Schalke this season, impressing all over the pitch with four goals and one assist in just 14 starts for the club, and looks to be one of many promising young talents on show at the Bundesliga giants at the moment. Kruse, meanwhile, has also been linked with Manchester United after an impressive season upfront for Monchengladbach, for whom he has contributed 12 goals and nine assists.
The 26-year-old is also capable of playing out wide or behind the main striker, which could be a priority for Brendan Rodgers as he looks likely to axe both Victor Moses and Oussama Assaidi from his squad.
