Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have received a boost after Nilton’s move to Inter Milan broke down.Cruzeiro’s general manager, Valdir Barbosa, confirmed the development – with the Brazilian now left in limbo. The midfielder’s 4m move to the San Siro was reportedly almost done but a row over payments has ruined the deal – giving the Reds and Spurs renewed hope.“NIlton is in Brazil and will join the group on Thursday to play the match against Corinthians,” Barbosa told reporters.“The agreement with Inter has been cancelled because of their proposal to pay in instalments.“That wasn’t accepted by our sporting director Alexandre Mattos, so Nilton remains our player.”Spurs and Liverpool have been tracking the player for several months and are looking at adding defensive midfield reinforcements to their squads.Reds boss Brendan Rodgers wants a bigger squad to compete in both the Premier League and Champions League next season, while Spurs are preparing for the loss of Sandro and Etienne Capoue.
