Luis Suarez netted a hat-trick against Cardiff City on Saturday, reaching 28 Premier League goals this campaign – the first Liverpool player to do so since Robbie Fowler. Liverpool started the match poorly going 1-0 down, and then 2-1 down shortly after leveling the game. However, Suarez was once again the catalyst as he inspired his side to yet another emphatic win, as the game finished 3-6 in their favour. Robbie Fowler managed 28 league goals in the 1995/96 season in which Liverpool finished third. Suarez has managed to equal the Liverpool legend’s tally with eight matches remaining and is showing no sign of slowing down. Liverpool’s win puts them into second place, just one point off Chelsea who had earlier thrashed fourth placed Arsenal 6-0.
