Former Tottenham striker Gary Lineker has hit out at Roberto Soldado for the Spaniard’s wastefulness in front of goal. Lineker played for the club between 1989 and 1992, winning the FA Cup and scoring 67 goals in 105 games. Soldado has scored just once in his last 11 games for Spurs, and missed another handful of chances against Benfica in Lisbon in the second leg of their Europa League last 16 clash. Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Soldado makes me realise I wasn’t that ****.”Soldado cost Spurs 26million in the summer and has just six Premier League goals so far, with four of those coming from the penalty spot. They lost the first leg 3-1 at White Hart Lane last week and have just drawn 2-2 in the return leg to see them crash out of the competition. Lineker has since taken to Twitter claiming it was a joke, stating: “May I say, for those who missed the Messi tweet last week, that the Soldado tweet was just a joke.”Read more Tottenham Hotspur transfer news.
