Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is set to keep his place in the Reds side for Sunday’s crunch title showdown with rivals Manchester City, [football] direct news understands. A source close to the Merseyside outfit who observed the squad training told FDN the Frenchman retained his spot in a practice match alongside the same 10 team-mates who started last weekend’s 2-1 win at West Ham United. The former Paris Saint-Germain centre-half, a high-profile arrival in last summer’s transfer window, replaced Daniel Agger for the game at Upton Park after the injury-prone Denmark international sustained a knee problem. The game also saw playmaker Philippe Coutinho feature behind front three Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez, pointing towards an attacking line-up for Sunday’s eagerly-anticipated match at Anfield.
