Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has said that, had Manchester United come in for him, he would not have been tempted to leave the south coast club. Le Tissier spent the entirety of his professional career at Southampton, where he scored 209 goals in 540 appearances in all competitions in 16 years at the Saints between 1986 and 2002. The eight-times capped England international had chances to leave Southampton for clubs that would have been seen to stand more of a chance of winning silverware, with Tottenham one of the sides to have been turned down by Le Tissier during his career. Le Tissier was asked by a fan on Twitter if he would have been tempted to move to Man United had the Red Devils have made a move for him, to which the former striker answered “nope”. Despite being regarded as one of the finest players that England has ever produced, Le Tissier did not win any major honours in his career.
