Mesut Ozil has failed to deliver in the big games, according to Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.  The German was man of the match during Arsenal’s comfortable 3-0 win over Newcastle tonight at the Emirates that all but seals their Champions League qualification for next season.
The playmaker arrived at Arsenal at the start of the season in a 42m move from Real Madrid with big things expected of him. But despite a promising start Ozil’s form badly dipped before injuries also began to take their toll.  And Carragher says that Ozil needs to produce in the big matches and not just when his side are playing the lesser teams at home.
He’s not been spectacular this season and needs to get more goals in his game to say he’s had a good season, he told Sky Sports.  “He’s had a decent season but has failed in the big games. “The biggest failure of which came against Bayern Munich in the Champions League where he hit a soft penalty that was easily saved. Ozil then drifted out of the game, his confidence in tatters as Arsenal slumped out of the competition.
