It was confirmed by Sevilla president Jose Castro that the Croatian midfielder would be renewing his contract with the club, following interest from a number of top European clubs. Castro re-affirmed that Rakitic was happy with life in Seville and had signalled his desire to remain at the club but a planned meeting which saw Rakitic’s agent and Castro meet on Tuesday did not go according to plan. That has led interested sides to once again show interest with Italian club Juventus keen to renew their interest and offer the midfielder a lucrative deal to move to the Serie A. The 26-year-old has been in superb form this season, scoring and creating 12 in his 29 La Liga appearances. However, his current deal is due to expire next summer and all clubs, including Sevilla must act fast to stop any summer transfer battles.
