Barcelona are hoping to sign either Arturo Vidal or Paul Pogba from Juventus to replace Cesc Fabregas this summer, according to Brazilian journalist Rafael Hernandez.
The Catalan giants are widely expected to make big changes to their first-team squad after a difficult season, with big names such as Fabregas and Pedro thought to be in the firing line as well as some of the club’s backup and squad players.
Hernandez, who has close links with goings on at the Nou Camp, revealed on his Twitter account that the club are identifying targets in the event of Fabregas’ departure, with Vidal and Pogba the top priorities to come in. Both players have been linked with a host of top clubs in recent months after establishing themselves as two of the finest midfield players in Europe, and Barca will now hope to beat off competition to bring in at least one of them before next season. Fabregas could leave Barcelona sooner if the club secures the new starting midfielder. Pogba and Vidal currently the favourites, Hernandez tweeted. With regards to the Spanish international’s future, Hernandez added that he believes the 27-year-old is more likely to make the move to Manchester United over a return to his old club Arsenal. I particularly think if Fabregas leaves, he’ll choose the club that pays the most, Manchester United, he added.
