West Ham United playmaker Joe Cole expects to leave the club at the end of the season. The former England international’s contract runs out in June and the Hammers are yet to enter into talks over an extension, leaving him in limbo ahead of the summer transfer window. Ex-Chelsea and Liverpool star Cole is adopting a philosophical stance to the situation but hopes to secure regular first-team football if he does depart Upton Park. He also aims to play with a smile on his face following a difficult campaign in the capital, which has seen him frequently warming the substitutes’ bench. The 32-year-old told Sky Sports News: “Nothing has officially been talked about, obviously I have not played as much as I would have liked this season but we have got a job to do first.“After that you’re bound to think that your future is going to be elsewhere. Next season wherever I go it will be a case of playing football and enjoying it.”Read more West Ham United transfer news.
