West Ham United could be set to make a move for Hannover 96 defender Sebastian Pocognoli, according to reports in Germany. The Belgian left-back has had a frustrating season at the Bundesliga club making just 20 appearances for the club. That has caused the 26-year-old to just miss out on Belgium’s summer World Cup squad and has been left on the stand-by list by coach Marc Wilmots.Pocognoli is expected to leave Hannover in the summer and has been lined up by the Hammers as a potential arrival, according to a report in Bild. The Hammers are hoping to strengthen several areas of their squad this summer with the full-back position a priority. Current left-back George McCartney is soon to be out of contract and the club is looking at various options. Colombian Pablo Armero spent the last half of the season on loan at West Ham but has gone back to parent club Napoli now the season is finished.Pocognoli has two years left on his contract with Hannover, but could be available for around 2 million which will suit the Hammers.
