French midfielder Mathieu Valbuena would welcome a move to Premier League side Manchester United, [football] direct news understands. The French playmaker is set to call time on his eight year spell with Ligue 1 side Marseille and move this summer, gaining interest from a number of European football’s top clubs. Valbuena is expected to represent his country in the World Cup this summer but his performances in France have already seen the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona and Manchester United. And, [FDN] understands that it is the latter who the 29-year-old would like to join. Heavy interest from Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2011 never developed following wage demands from the midfielder but it is understood that Valbuena will accept less to join the Old Traffford side. Valbuena has made seven assists and scored two goals in 27 league games this season.
