Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons is keen on a move to Manchester United despite interest from Arsenal and clubs in Italy. The French star, who is rated at 12m, has been in fine form this season and played a big part in Lyon’s Europa League campaign, which resulted in a quarter-final defeat to Juventus. Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of the player and has been tracking him for some time, while United were also keen under sacked David Moyes and could yet revive their interest in the player. Gonalons, who has been called up French national boss Didier Deschamps as a standby player, is currently the subject of interest across Europe, with Roma, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Juventus all keen. But according to sources close to United the player has set his heart on playing for the Old Trafford outfit and is hopeful new boss Louis van Gaal will make him an offer. The 25-year-old midfielder has a current deal with the Ligue 1 side until 2016 but is expected to leave the club this summer.
