Former Arsenal striker Davor Suker has likened fellow Croatian Alen Halilovic to Lionel Messi following his agreement to sign with FC Barcelona. Dinamo Zagreb recently agreed a deal to sell the young star to the Spanish giants for an inital fee of around 1.8million. Halilovic will join the Barcelona B team and has signed a five-year deal with the club. Barsa’s recent transfer ban is not believed to affect the deal for Halilovic in any way due to the player’s age. The 17-year old is tipped become the next world-class player to emerge from Croatia and Suker feels he has the potential to reach the level of his new teammate Lionel Messi.“Halilovic is a star. He reminds me of Messi. He is young, I believe in him and he is capable of moving the ball very well,” he told Cadena COPE. Suker, who also played for Real Madrid, is the current president of the Croatian Football Federation since being elected in 2012.
