Former Chelsea midfielder Tiago is hoping to earn a new contract at La Liga leaders and Champions League semi-finalists Atletico Madrid. Tiago joined Atletico in initially on loan from Juventus in 2010 before making the move permanent a year later and has gone on to establish himself in Diego Simeone’s side. The former Portugal international’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and Spanish newspaper Marca report that Tiago is hoping to be handed an extension at the Vicente Calderon. Tiago has made 18 La Liga appearances this season and started in both legs of Atletico’s Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona, advancing to the semi-finals, and is hopeful of being able to stay at the Spanish club, despite his 32 years of age.
