Andre Villas-Boas says that his famous treble winning season at FC Porto in 2011 was down to good fortune rather than any particular method from his behalf.
The current Zenit St. Petersburg manager feels that his league, cup and Europa League triumph with the Portuguese club was simply due to having luck on his side. Villas-Boas’ side won 49 out of their 58 matches but the former Spurs and Chelsea boss feels that football can be very simple when you have good players on your side. “I got lucky that I had incredible players in my team, that’s all,” he told Zenit’s official website. “Football is a whole story of unexplainable things. For me football is chaos. What`s really happening on the pitch? Eleven very talented people on both sides can do incredible things with the ball. ”Villas-Boas had the likes of Brazilian striker Hulk and Colombian star Radamel Falcao in his side and he feels players with that level of ability are the ones who carry a team in big moments. “They show moments of brilliance, creativity, decision making that most of the time can’t be recreated in training. They are the ones that take us, the coaches and teams, to victory,” he concluded.
