Former Birmingham City striker Mauro Zarate is a transfer target for Valencia this summer, according to Fichajes. net.
The 27-year-old, currently of Argentine outfit Velez Sarsfield, has been in fine form since rejoining the club where he started his career, but could be set to return to Europe as Valencia eye new signings upfront this summer. Los Che had to deal with the departure of star striker Roberto Soldado last summer as the Spaniard joined Tottenham Hotspur, and also look likely to lose Helder Postiga, who is currently on loan at Serie A side Lazio. Valencia have been linked with a move to bring back their former star player David Villa, though Zarate is now reportedly a top target as well.
The Argentine forward has moved around a lot on his career, and is seen as something of a wasted talent after failing to live up to the fine potential seen in him as a youngster. Zarate was impressive in a short loan spell with Birmingham in 2008, earning himself a move to Lazio the following summer, though his form then dipped in Italy at both the Stadio Olimpico and with Inter Milan.
