Fiorentina are ready to take misfiring Chelsea striker Fernando Torres off the Blues’ hands, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Serie A side are in the market for new signings upfront this summer, with it proving something of a problem position this year due to the sale of Stevan Jovetic, along with injuries to Giuseppe Rossi and Mario Gomez.
The latter was a big-name signing for La Viola, who are ready to go into the market for another marquee star this summer with Torres, who remains highly regarded in the game despite enduring a miserable time during his three-and-a-half seasons at Stamford Bridge.
The Spanish international has only scored 44 goals in 171 appearances for Chelsea, having managed 81 in just 142 games for his previous club Liverpool, where he had established himself as one of the best forwards in the world.
The likes of Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan have recently been linked with the 30-year-old, but Fiorentina will now hope to lure him to Florence this summer to improve their attacking options. Vincenzo Montella’s side could face interest from Manchester City in star player Rossi, while Alessandro Matri is only at the club on loan from AC Milan.
