Feyenoord technical director Martin van Geel has revealed that the club are continuing to monitor Manchester City striker John Guidetti. Guidetti enjoyed a prolific loan spell at the Dutch club in the 2011/12 season, scoring 20 goals in 23 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord, but his development was hampered by a virus which saw the Swede lose feeling in his right leg.
The 21-year-old has since recovered and, following a prolonged period on the sidelines, Guidetti is now on loan at Man City’s Premier League rivals Stoke City, where he has so far made six appearances from the substitutes bench. Feyenoord have made no secret of their desire to bring Guidetti back to the club, with the striker’s contract at the Etihad Stadium set to expire at the end of next season.
The club’s technical director Van Geel told FOX Sports: “He is a guy that we like. Guidetti is always in our mind. “Van Geel also revealed that Feyenoord are also monitoring the situation of former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt, who played for the Dutch club between 2003 and 2006 prior to his move to Anfield.
He said on Kuyt: “At this moment it is not an issue because he has an ongoing contract with Fenerbahce and I understand that he finds it much to his liking over there. “
