Juan Bernat is being closely tracked by Manchester United but Valencia fans have shown their will for the club to renew the player’s contract. David Moyes has been linked with a number of left-backs since he took over at Old Trafford, with Bernat being the latest player rumoured to be on his agenda.
However, in a recent poll in Valencia’s daily sports paper Superdeporte, fans voted overwhelmingly in favour of the youngster staying at the Mestalla. 92% of Los Che fans preferred to see the club hold on to their asset rather than sell him for a lucrative sum despite the club’s financial troubles.
The academy graduate has become an indispensible member of the Valencia starting lineup and even more so since the departure of Andres Guardado, who moved on loan to Bayer Leverkusen in January in order to lower the club’s wage bill. Bernat has a contract with Valencia until June 2015 and the club will have to make a decision as to whether they are going to renew his contract or sell him this summer, or otherwise face losing him on the Bosman ruling when he will be free to discuss terms with other clubs at the start of next year.
