Ex-Spurs chairman Lord Sugar has branded Arjen Robben a diver after he won another penalty for Bayern Munich in the German side’s defeat of Arsenal in the Champions League. The flying Dutchman was judged to have been fouled in the box last night after clumsy contact from Laurent Koscielny, who showed naivety in trying to win the ball as the former Chelsea man ran down the clock.
The incident followed Robben being brought down for a penalty in the first leg of the last 16-tie when goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was sent off, easing Munich’s passage to a comfortable 2-0 away win at the Emirates. Both penalties were saved but Arsene Wenger was furious with Robben and accused the winger of diving in both matches – potentially landing the Frenchman in hot water. While both were arguably penalties, Robben did perform a blatant dive earlier in last night’s match as he burst into the box and was lucky not to be booked. But Lord Sugar, who famously signed legendary “diver” Jurgen Klinsmann for Tottenham, stuck the boot into Robben for his antics. Robben gets a pen . He is diver . Pleased it was saved, he wrote on Twitter.
