Ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager Juande Ramos has heaped praise on his former Spurs players Gareth Bale and Luka Modric, who are both impressing at La Liga giants Real Madrid.
The Spaniard, who won the League Cup with the north London club but was sacked after a terrible start to the 2008/09 campaign, is not surprised by Bale’s rise to fame as the world’s most expensive player.
Ramos also had faith that Modric would develop into a world-class talent, having witnessed his early potential when the player was 20-years-old. Discussing Bale’s slow start to life in Madrid, which saw him hampered by injuries before he started to establish himself, Ramos told Journal Bernabeu: “It’s no wonder when you have got such immense conditions. Adapting is always difficult – the language, customs – but you can contribute much. “If we look at the minutes he has played, he has scored many goals. He will succeed wherever he plays. ”Ramos, now manager of Ukraine side Dnipro, also waxed lyrical about the professional performances Modric has produced this term.
He added: “He is now mature and is the player we thought he would be. He has the personality to carry the weight of the game. ”
