Ex-Liverpool and Man United star Michael Owen said the Anfield club did not even have to be at their best to inflict another horrific result on David Moyes’ side – marking yet another low. United’s miserable campaign under Moyes continued after the Red Devils were humbled 3-0 in their own backyard to all but end their slim Champions League hopes, while keeping the Anfield side firmly fighting for the title.
Two Steven Gerrard penalties and a Luis Suarez strike was enough to see off a woeful United side that has left Moyes’ position under even more scrutiny – with the Scot set to be called into showdown talks with the board and Alex Ferguson over the team’s shocking form. Liverpool took the lead after 34 minutes, with Rafael handling in the area before Gerrard stepped up to send David De Gea the wrong way.

Phil Jones then upended Joe Allen in the area just after the break, with Gerrard once again netting from the spot before Suarez added further gloss to the scoreline late on. Liverpool haven’t even been at their sensational best today.

Didn’t think things could get any worse for United. . . . . . . , Owen said on Twitter.
