Ex-England star Gary Lineker believes Daniel Sturridge deserves to play in a central role for his country after his performance in Liverpool’s 3-0 destruction of Man United today.

The Reds star was forced to play in a wide position during England’s recent win over Denmark while Wayne Rooney was selected to play in a central role.
The former Chelsea striker proved a handful for United as the Red Devils were humbled 3-0 in their own backyard to all but end their slim Champions League hopes, while keeping the Anfield side firmly fighting for the title.
Two Steven Gerrard penalties and a Luis Suarez strike was enough to see off a woeful United side that has left Moyes’ position under even more scrutiny – with the Scot set to be called into showdown talks with the board and Alex Ferguson over the team’s shocking form. Liverpool took the lead after 34 minutes, with Rafael handling in the area before Gerrard stepped up to send David De Gea the wrong way.

Phil Jones then upended Joe Allen in the area just after the break, with Gerrard once again netting from the spot before Suarez added further gloss to the scoreline late on.
Think Sturridge must play centrally for England. Gives options behind the opposition’s defence, which Rooney doesn’t, Linkeker wrote on Twitter.
