AC Milan could reportedly find it difficult to sell Everton target Alessandro Matri due to an uninspiring loan stint at Fiorentina. A source close to Goodison Park told FDN the Italian is one of a number of targets being tracked as the Toffees look to plug the gaps left up front by the departure of two loanees. Romelu Lukaku has returned to parent club Chelsea, while towering targetman Lacina Traore is also gone, having resumed his career with cash-rich French outfit Monaco. Despite the fact that Everton continue to consider a move for Matri, Italian source Tutto Mercato Web suggested that Milan may have to settle for a cut-price offer after his disappointing spell in Florence saw his value dip.
Two goals on his debut for the Viola in the 3-0 win at Catania in January suggested he would be a big hit, but he had to wait a month for his next strike, which came in the Europa League showdown with Esbjerg.
He got his name on the scoresheet in mid-March during the 3-1 victory over Chievo, and his final effort for Fiorentina came in April during a 5-3 defeat of Verona.
The 29-year-old managed a return of six goals in 19 appearances.
