Everton manager Roberto Martinez is preparing a deal to bring Gareth Barry to Goodison Park on a full-time basis. The former England midfielder had an impressive season on loan last term and Martinez is keen to keep him, although he is out of contract at Manchester City and there are therefore plenty of other interested parties. West Ham were said to be leading the chase due to their contract offer but Arsenal, Newcastle and Tottenham have all been linked with the 33-year-old. Martinez has moved to counter any rival moves by apparently offering the 33-year-old a three-year deal at 60,000 a week to ensure he returns to Goodison Park. It is also being reported that Everton will have to pay City a further 2m as part of last season’s loan deal meaning the entire package could end up costing around 11 million.
