Everton are hoping to strengthen their squad with Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez this summer, according to reports. Toffees boss Roberto Martinez has identified Niguez as a potential summer signing as he looks to replace Gerard Deulofeu who has returned to Barcelona after his loan spell. Niguez also spent last season on loan at La Liga side Rayo Vallecano as playing opportunities were limited at the Vicente Calderon. The 19-year-old helped Rayo to a healthy mid-table finish, but is not expected to be included in the plans of Atletico coach Diego Simeone next season. According to a report of Frichajes.net, Martinez is keen on taking the midfielder to Everton and has been keeping tabs on him this last season. The problem for Martinez is that Niguez is tied to Atletico under contract until 2019 and the freshly crowned Spanish champions are reluctant to let him leave. The Toffees have not ruled out a loan move for the player, but would prefer to sign him outright.
