Norwich City striker Luciano Becchio has emerged as a summer transfer target for Crystal Palace, FootballDirectNews.com understands. A source close to Selhurst Park told FDN that boss Tony Pulis is a keen admirer of the 30-year-old, who has struggled since arriving at Carrow Road just over a year ago, and a cut-price offer is in the pipeline.
The Argentine forward has made only six appearances for the Canaries, four of which were top-flight games, and he is yet to find the back of the net. Former Leeds United hitman Becchio has not featured for Norwich since the 1-0 victory over Hull City on January 18 and his future at the club appears to be bleak.
He caught the attention of Pulis during a prolific spell at Leeds, but the boss will not ask directors to enter into talks with Norwich until Palace’s top-flight status has been secured.
They are in the heart of the relegation battle and cannot prioritise transfer targets until safety is confirmed. Watch Arsenal v Man City Saturday or Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur, Sunday.
