Borussia Dortmund could look to sign Jan Vertonghen from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, FootballDirectNews.com understands.
The Belgian centre-back has been linked with a number of clubs in recent months after speculation that he could be ready to quit Tottenham if they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season.

Manchester City are one of the clubs believed to be interested in the former Ajax man, though it is also their chase for Dortmund’s Neven Subotic that could spark the Bundesliga club’s interest in signing a new defensive player. Jurgen Klopp’s side have had a disappointing season this year due to injuries to key defenders Subotic and Mats Hummels for much of the campaign, and are keen to bring in new additions to provide further depth to their back four, though the two players are also attracting interest from top clubs around Europe.
Hummels is also a target for Juventus, and if one of he or Subotic does leave, the signing of Vertonghen will prove even more crucial for last season’s Champions League runners-up.
There is growing interest in Vertonghen, as it does seem like he wants to leave, a Spurs insider revealed. “Dortmund are looking for defenders and they’re looking likely to make an offer in the summer.
