Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has revealed that he almost left Spain for a move to Turkey in 2011. Speaking to Canal Plus, Costa spoke of his happiness to be part of Vicente del Bosque’s Spanish national squad but also admitted that it may have not happened if he had moved to Turkey in 2011.
The Brazilian born striker joined Atletico Madrid in 2010 but a knee injury saw him drop out of favour at the Vicente Calderon and was loaned out to Rayo Vallecano on his return.
However, he has told of a move that could have seen him join an unnamed Turkish club.

When I got injured the knee in 2011, my agent called me and told me that I could go to Turkey.

Club had accepted the ‘offer and depended only on me but I would have to start again from scratch. For me it is a privilege to be part of Spain considering the great quality players that are there. I have not been in the locker room but I already feel important and Sudero for this shirt.
