Benatia is one of the most sought after defenders in Europe this summer with Manchester United and FC Barcelona among the favourties to land his signature. United are aiming to add at least one central defender to their ranks following the departures of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand. Benatia is said to be high up on United’s desired targets and are believed to be considering a bid for the player valued at around 24million. Castan and Benatia have formed an excellent partnership for the Italians, conceding the fewest goals in Serie A after champions Juventus.
The Brazilian has said that he would like his teammate to remain with the club to continue their partnership. I hope he stays with us to achieve more positive things together. It’s nice to hear that myself and Benatia we are one of the strongest partnerships, before they all said that I could not play with him, he said after a recent charity match. United would like to do their business early but with manager Louis van Gaal still with the Dutch national team, a move may have to wait until after the World Cup.
