The Dutchman has constantly been linked with a move to Spurs since it looked unlikely that Tim Sherwood would not be kept on at the club.
The North London club are also said to be after Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino for next season.
However, it now seems as though de Boer will be the most likely arrival out of the two with reports in Holland claiming that the Ajax boss will leave the club. “We have a source that tells us Frank De Boer unfortunately is leaving Ajax,” Ajax Fanzone reported.
The situation regarding de Boer remains unclear with the former Barcelona defender previously ruling out wanting to leave the club but admitting interest from Spurs. “Spurs have indicated that they would like to talk after the season if necessary for them. I told them that I first want to focus on a good end of the season with Ajax, then I would be happy to listen,” de Boer said, speaking to Voetbal International. “And let’s be clear: it is not my intention to leave Ajax. We have a great group of players and I’m thrilled with my time at Ajax,” he concluded.
The 44-year-old guided Ajax to their fourth consecutive Eredivisie title this year and still has three years left on his current deal.
