Manchester City are weighing up a move for ex-Everton loanee Gerard Deulofeu, FootballDirectNews.com understands. A source close to the Etihad Stadium told FDN the Blues are keen to add more width to their squad before the 2014-15 season begins, having seen another Spain international – Jesus Navas – endure an inconsistent first campaign in England.
Their failure to extend England star James Milner’s contract, which has one year left to run, has also intensified the need to increase their options on both flanks.
The club insider revealed scouts were highly-impressed by the way in which Barcelona wideman Deulofeu settled in at Goodison Park and hope to lure him back to England at the earliest opportunity.

However, even if Catalan giants Barca are willing to cash in, City may have to wait a while as he has been called up by the national side in a pre-World Cup squad and could yet be involved in this summer’s tournament in Brazil. Boss Manuel Pellegrini knows all about the player from his time in La Liga managing Malaga, and is said to be a keen admirer.
The Chilean led City to the Premier League title and League Cup in his first season in English football but is still expected to strengthen his squad during the summer transfer window.
