Bakkali is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest talents and has broken into the PSV Eindhoven first team this season due to his impressive showings in the club’s youth ranks.
The West Londoners have been working hard on a deal since the youngster broke onto the scene earlier this season and it is believed that a meeting was held in April with the player’s representatives over a summer deal from which both parties left satisfied.
The 18-year-old is an explosive wide player who can play on the flank of a front three or as a central striker. Bakkali possesses great pace and has displayed good finishing in the Eredivisie, scoring four goals in his breakthrough season. Bakkali was eligible to play for Morocco but instead opted to represent the nation of his birth in October of last year and subsequently made his full debut for Belgium later that month. In the event that a transfer is agreed with PSV, Chelsea will consider loaning the player to Vitesse Arnhem with whom the club have special agreements in order for him to play first team football.
