Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has revealed Napoli’s midfield dynamo Marek Hamsik as the toughest opponent he has faced. The Serbian international made a 21million move back to Stamford Bridge from Benfica in January and has been an excellent addition to Jose Mourinho’s side. Matic did not often feature for Chelsea in his first spell at the club but played against a number of top opponents in his time with Benfica. The 25-year-old believes that Hamsik is the best opponent he has ever come against, while admitting that Barcelona’s Lionel Messi was the obvious choice. I’ve played against so many great players. I like the way Marek Hamsik of Napoli plays, it was very difficult to control him in midfield. I think I must also say Messi, this is obvious, he told Tuttomercato. Matic was a star performer in his time at Benfica and was named player of the year in last season’s Portuguese league. Super Sunday!
